Something that took place in school
Testicles? Testicles? Testicles? What? Are you sure? These were my first reactions when some people in our class said that they had seen two testicles lying on the ground in the school field. You people must be thinking that I am being totally absurd and that there was no way this was true, although the testicles may be fake, but trust me, they look exactly like the real ones(not that I have seen them before).
It was just a regular everyday’s Thursday physical education lesson where we were enjoying a game of soccer. Upon the teacher’s whistle to gather us, a few of my classmates stumbled upon the two so called ‘testicles’. Out of curiosity, many of them followed to take a look at the ‘testicles’. I could not bother as I felt that ‘testicles’ should not attract my attention. Many of them returned, stunned by ‘them’, looking so realistic, to the extent that some said that whose these were. Looking at my classmates’ reactions, I decided to take a look too. As I arrived at the two of them, I could not believe my eyes, it was so well copied that there was even blood on the outside layer of it. As the next period was recess, I did not look at it any longer, less it might ruin my appetite.
I had already put this matter behind me till a student in my class came running up in a fiery mood. He explained that he went back to the ‘testicles’ with his friend to get a closer look. They were playing till his friend even threw one of ‘them’ at him and it ‘burst’. He was so disgusted when the blood spurted onto him. Wow, I cannot believe that these two ‘testicles’ could catch so much of my attention.
Although they might look like the exact actual ones’, we all know that they were just replicas. I have been wondering who had made these, was this a prank or was this a test for us to see how we would react. Most importantly, all of us have not been affected by this incident but it still remains a mystery where this foreign substance came from.
Altough the testicles may be fake but this incident is true, you can ask any of my classmates.
'Flipside' would be a good song as it is also unusual.

A difficulty I faced
Don’t CHEAT, don’t STEAL, don’t LIE, don’t BULLY. You might not have heard of these four morals but as a Victorian, I am extremely familiar with it. All Victorians should know the importance and significance of it as our school places great emphasis on them. For me, I have not gone against my conscience in breaking these four ‘self laws’. Unfortunately, I have witnessed it, to make it even worse; it was my classmate, my friend.
Earlier this year, I was in a dilemma, whether to turn him in, to let him go unscathed or to have a personal talk with him. Maverick was a secondary two pupil who had a big build . He was the kind of pupil who would hand up assignments promptly and was a ‘cool’ and popular figure in school. It was the start of a new year and secondary one students would be admitted into our school. As we have already spent a year in Victoria School, no longer the green horns, loved to look and have a laugh about the new pupils in our school.
Out of the blue, Maverick asked me if I wanted to join him in making fun of one of the pupils. I thought he was only kidding and so I did not say anything. Who knew that he immediately went to work that afternoon. I heard a familiar voice and took a peep, to my dismay, it was Maverick, so I decided to stay and watch the whole scene. He went up to this petite secondary one pupil and started making fun of him, insulting and intimidating the boy as he towered over him. Maverick gave a little pat on his face, telling him to watch out before turning and leaving. From the boy’s expressions I could tell that he was terrified and on the verge of crying.
Feeling raged, I went to Maverick the next day and told him what I saw and asked him to explain his actions. Not feeling the least remorseful, he actually told me that he was expecting me to join him. I was taken by surprise with his response and reminded him of our four school morals; of which one of them is not to bully and furthermore to a boy half his size. Seeing Maverick not at all guilty of what he did, I told him to apologize to the boy or I would turn him to the teacher for disciplinary action.
Not realizing his wrong doing Maverick refused to apologize. I then decided to report this matter to the form teacher and Maverick was given a formal warning.
On my way home that day, I wondered if I had made the right decision in turning Maverick to the teacher. Would he become more defiant after being reprimanded? Would he repent after being counselled by the teacher?
I hope I had not lost a friend in doing so but I just could not see him turning to the dark side without taking any action. Furthermore, I would be lying to myself for consenting Maverick’s behaviour. Till now, I do not regret for what I have done. I hope Maverick would understand one day.
Maverick, I would just like to tell you that although its too late to 'apologize', u can still make it up by turning over a new leaf, I believe you can do it!

A moment you enjoyed with your family
Moments spent with your family members are most valued and the memorable ones are absolutely priceless. You will bring these memories with you throughout your life and certain moments will definitely leave a strong impression on you and I have one particular moment deeply etched in my mind.
It was the December holidays and it was one of the many family gatherings at my house. There was nothing really standing out in the course of the day till dinner time. “Eh dad, could you go somewhere else to smoke? You’re polluting the house, moreover if you want to kill yourself don’t take us down with you,” I said sarcastically, but with the approval of my aunties and uncles and especially my mother who has been suffering all these years. They all joined in the persuasion but after all these years it has fallen on deaf ears.
It was at this moment where all of us together devised a plan. My father has been smoking since an incredibly young age and has been suffering from chronic cough for ages now. As always, he started coughing once he stepped into the house. “See la, cough until like that still want to smoke,” my mother bellowed at him. As usual, he gave us his “signature” disgusted look on his face. Then, my auntie continued by saying, “don’t you remember what dad said to us? Especially to you?” My grandfather was also smoker and he had passed away at a young age because of smoking. So his final wish was for my father to quit smoking. It was at this moment where my father began to crack, he started reflecting, not speaking for awhile. Then it was my turn, “why don’t you do it for me, for all of us and most importantly for yourself?” “Okay, Okay, I will try my best,” though slightly reluctant, but we could all tell it was different from other times, it was more serious with no cheeky face expressions and a voice with the will to curb his craving. It was then confirmed when he chucked his packet of cigars down the trash bin together with his lighter.
My heart melted as this scene ran through my head over and over again till tears were on the verge of rolling down my cheeks. This moment was indescribable with all the mixed emotions running through my mind. My mother was overwhelmed with joy, a load finally off her and she was smiling continuously with my relatives, all happy for my father.
It was confirmed that our happiness was not shortlived as my father had really stopped smoking up till now and I do wish that he will not walk back on the same path as he did twenty years ago.
I would recommend you to listen to Thanks For The Memories and Breaking The Habit while reading this post.
Final words: Finally you have broken your habit dad and thanks for this wonderful memory!

Something unsusual that happened that day
During any student’s first few months in school, you would not consider newly made friends as your very close and best friend, but that was what turned out for me and Nachiket. It was such unbelievable coincidences for both of us.
Unusually that day the contractor of my house mentioned that he was busy with another project. He was doing sketches of the interior design for a new apartment for a family by the surname “Sachin”. Then my mother looked over to me and asked, “Wasn’t one of my classmate’s surnames also “Sachin”?” I thought for a moment and recalled that my friend who sat beside me in class also had that surname. Curiously, I probed further, “is that family’s son Nachiket?” He replied, “I think so, by the way he goes to the same school as you, do you know him?” I smiled at him sheepishly and told him we may be talking about the same person. He also added that his father works in the same line as my father and he is from Tankers Pacific. My doubts were clarified with my father once he got home that night.
The next day in school I asked Nachiket, “you are going to move to your new apartment at Tanjong Rhu right? Your father works at Tankers Pacific and the contractor for your new house is Dennis.” He was stunned and looked at me, puzzled. I then explained to him that the link was Dennis, we are using the same contractor. “And my father knows your father! My father is Desmond,” I told him. His face brightened up as the cat is out of the bag. Nachiket immediately said he cannot wait to verify with his father. The very next day, he said he could not believe the coincidences. It is really a small world. First, it was the contractor, Dennis. Second, our fathers knew each other. Third, we were studying in the same school, same class and even sitting beside each other. Over the next few days, we laughed over this “discovery”.
Our friendship was strengthened further and I hope we will remain good friends for many more years to come.
For this post i would recommend you to listen to Built To Last as i do hope this friendship of ours would last. I hope you have read this Nachiket!
